Bayston Hill Quarry is currently in the process of starting the new plant development at the site.
In March 2021, work will start on the foundations for the drystone crushing and screening plant.
The location of the plant has already been agreed and the site are currently working on the finer details around access in and out of the plant.
Ian Knott, works manager at the quarry said: “We should be in a position to share drawings of the new plant with the Liaisson Committee Members in April. The plan is to complete the construction of the plant in June 2022 with the hope that it will be ready to use by July 2022.”
Once the new drystone plant is up and running, the site will start work to remove the existing drystone crushing and screening plant.
Whilst the site is undertaking the new development there will be a need to blast more frequent in the south west area of the quarry. To limit the how the impact of these explosions might be felt by neighbours, the site will be analysing the vibrations and air overpressure in this area, and designing the blasts to below permitted vibration levels.
